Feeding an Addiction or Feeding Your Face?

That Funky Monkey

Oh Gawd … it is 2:13 p.m. and I’m feeling like a funky money … and not in the good way.


Just as a precautionary measure, I’d recommend not eating the following items within a close timeframe to one another:

  • hard-boiled egg (white only)
  • blueberry yogurt
  • string cheese
  • grapes
  • white peach
  • 1 can of non-fat refried beans

It is not a good combo.

On top of that, if you just happen to have a bag of Archer Farms Chocolate Monkey Trail mix in your purse, give yourself at least three hours to digest before consumption.  It’s just like when you’re a kid and your mom won’t let you go swimming for 30 minutes after you’ve eaten your PB&J sandwich.  I always thought that was a wives tale, but maybe mom was right.

However, if you are smarter than this soon-to-be Chunky Monkey, and you have the bag of said trail mix in your purse at least three hours past rigorous questionable food combination consumption, this is what you’re sure to enjoy:

  • chocolate-covered peanuts
  • cashews
  • banana chips
  • walnuts
  • cherries
  • pineapple

Wow.  Inventive combo, right?  Its goodness-to-funkiness ratio is spot on.  A rare jungle delight.  The only other thing I could think to add would be peanut butter chips to really drive home the “monkey” aspect of the mix.

That would probably push us right over the gluttonous edge though, wouldn’t it?

So what did we learn today?   When testing food, don’t do it on a full stomach … the pleasure factor drops substantially.

That being said, Chocolate Monkey trail mix is good and so are the lessons learned from this trial.  Go get some, you funky monkeys.  Find out for yourself.
