The Trail Mix Trials
Feeding an Addiction or Feeding Your Face?

Scout’s Honor

If cute little Girl Scouts hocking cookies in front of the grocery store each spring weren’t enough, the Boy Scouts are now hitting us up in the fall.  Not with sugary delights, but with treats fit for a snacking king – popcorn, nuts and, you guessed it – trail mix. Tmix-front-lg

The Scout’s are offering Gourmet Trail Mix from Trail’s End, logo-trails-endwhich includes:

  • Raisins
  • Cranberries
  • Almonds
  • Walnuts
  • Yogurt Cranberries
  • Yogurt Raisins

It sounds good and probably tastes even better.  However, it is important to note that when reading the nutrition label there are a lot of additives, such as corn syrup, artificial color and partially hydrogenated oil, that liken this product to what the Scout’s female counterparts sell in the spring.

Don’t get me wrong, there is many-a-mix that I try and like that have additives.  By no means am I a natural-food-snob, but the comparison is note-worthy.

What’s more, 70 percent of proceeds from the sale of the this fund raiser go to support the Scout’s programs and services through out the country.  logo-boy-scouts-americaIf you don’t have a troop in front of your grocery store, you can also buy their products online here and your local troop will get credit.

Scout TroopRemember, before you reject these little guys’ offerings, to think about karma.  If you’re ever stuck on the side of the road, with nothing but a ballpoint pen, tweezers and a shoelace, you’re gonna wish you had an eager Boy Scout troop to help in your trials.

  1. I will buy some when I see the Boy Scouts out and about.

  2. I have seen the magazine they sell the trail mix out of. I have locked down the Orlando Cub Scouts who decided to use http://www.NuttyIdea.net as a fundraiser instead of the boring popcorn and such . . . huge success for them and Nutty Idea!

Plus I get to help out a great organization

  3. That is a great idea, Brett!
